Renton Breakathon Returns For Fourth Year To Benefit Communities In Schools Of Renton

Renton Breakathon 2012 is back, and eager kids, teens and tweens are ready to split wood — with their feet.

Four local Martial Arts studios will return to Renton River Days for the fourth annual Renton Breakathon.

Just what is a “breakathon?”

“The Renton Breakathon is much like a walk-a-thon. Participating students will solicit pledges from family and friends with per-board donations or a fixed amount. All fundraising is done prior to the actual event which is held at our local summer community festival, Renton River Days. At the actual event students (kids and adults) use their martial arts kicks to break as many boards as they can in a pre-determined amount of time,” wrote Kelly Malleck in an email to Renton Patch.

The money raised this year will also go to CIRS. Each school will hold a own fundraiser prior to the breakathon demonstration at River Days before the donations are pooled and presented to CISR.

Renton Breakathon is now an officially sanctioned event at the Renton River Days Festival.
