Hi, I'm Jenny Manning, the editor of Renton Patch. I look forward to serving up the most relevant and timely community news, whether it's late breaking, informational, educational, or light-hearted entertainment.

Although I come from a newspaper background, I'm excited to move forward in a digital format. With the help of a talented local freelance team, Renton Patch will be your go-to place for the latest in Renton happenings.

Editor's note: At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

Politics:
How would you describe your political beliefs? Are you registered with a certain party?

My political beliefs have ping-ponged all over the board. I grew up in a republican household, and originally registered as a conservative. During my college years I stayed more left than right. Over the last three presidential election I voted for Bush twice and Obama once. I'd place myself squarely in the middle as an economic conservative and social liberal.

Religion:
How religious would you consider yourself?

I grew up in the Episcopal church and often volunteered at VBS and other events. There's even a picture of me dressed as Santa Lucia when I had long, blond hair as a teen. I don't attend church on a regular basis anymore.

Local Hot-Button Issues:
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

I'm new to the community, so I'm sure this posting will change over time. The one thing I repeatedly hear about is the need for a Trader Joe's at the Landing. I'd love to see it happen (because I grew up on Trader Joe's food and I live at the Landing) but in the meantime, I'll just be happy to write about it.
