Memorial Day: What's Open, What's Closed in Renton?

Post Office, City Hall, library, schools closed on Memorial Day; bus service will run on a Sunday schedule; and garbage collection will continue as usual.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 30; here is a list of what’s open and what government offices are closed.

If you're planning to travel, check out the Washington State Department of Transportationweb pages to plan your route. You can expect heavy traffic on Friday and Monday particularly along I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

Metro Transit: will operate on a Sunday schedule for Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. For Metro bus service, if a bus route does not normally operate on Sunday, there will be no service on Memorial Day. All Metro offices will be closed on the holiday, including the customer information phone lines. You can use the online Trip Planner for travel assistance. 

Libraries: All King County Library System libraries (including , andFairwood) will be closed for the holiday, so make sure to before the holiday. If you're a teen and looking for something fun to do over the holiday, .

Schools: All Schools are closed for Memorial Day. Have fun and celebrate safely, kids!

Renton will be closed. The next meeting is scheduled for June 6 at 7 p.m. It'll be a full schedule since the . The , among others, will be on the agenda. Check back on Patch for the Council agenda, which will post next Thursday.

Post Office: All U.S. Post Office locations will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.

Garbage Collection: Don't forget to put the garbage out on Sunday morning. Waste Management will follow its regular Monday schedule for recycling, garbage and food/yard waste collection.
