Teen Shot Near Site Of Proposed New Downtown Library

The shooting happened one day after Mayor Denis Law's announcement of a new downtown security plan.

A 14-year old boy was injured during a shooting on Tuesday night in downtown Renton, roughly 24 hours after Mayor Denis Law's announcement of a  to strengthen the police presence in the city center and Renton's park and trail system.

According to a KomoNews.com report, the teen was shot shortly after 9 p.m. outside the Big 5 Sporting Goods Store on South Third Street near the transit center. A Renton Police Officer witnessed the shooting as he drove by in a patrol car.
