Renton Man Found Unconscious In King County Jail Cell; Dies At Harborview

The 33-year old Renton man was booked on April 9 for property destruction and harassment.

A Renton man who was being held at the King County Jail died today at Harborview Medical Center, after being found in unconscious in his cell.

The 33-year old man was booked into the jail in downtown Seattle on April 9, 2012, for property destruction and harassment.

On Monday afternoon, April 16th, an officer found the man in medical distress in his cell and called for assistance. Jail Health staff and Medic One responded to the scene and the man was rushed to Harborview, where he died Tuesday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m.

A determination regarding the cause and manner of death is pending from the King County Medical Examiner. Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking permission from family members to release further details.

As part of the standard review process for all jail-related deaths, the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention is working with Public Health to conduct an internal investigation.
