Renton Police Respond to Call of Car Blocking the Roadway; Find Dead Man

The King County Medical Examiner has custody of the body and will determine the cause of death, and attempt to identify the victim.

 UPDATE: Feb. 12 @ 5 p.m.

Shortly after 7 a.m., the Renton Police were sent to the 8300 block of S. 130th Street where a man was found dead this morning.

The King County Sheriff's Office first responded to the location when a caller reported a car partially blocking the roadway. After King County secured the scene, and the location was determined to be within Renton city limits, the investigation was handed over to the Renton Police Department.

Neither the cause nor the manner of death has been release, but police report the death does not appear to be accidental or of natural causes.

"Initial examination indicated that the victim, an African-American adult male, had been the victim of homicidal violence, although the cause and manner of the man’s death has not yet been determined," according to an updated version of a Renton Police Department press release sent just before 4:30 p.m.

The body is under care of the King County Medical Examiner Office, which will work to determine the cause of death and positively identify the man.

The Renton Police Department is investigating the death of a man within Renton city limits.

A 911 call reporting the death was originally routed to the King County Sheriff’s Department, which secured the scene. King County turned the investigation over to the Renton Police Department after it determined that the the car was parked inside the city limits,  

The cause of death has not been determined, and the investigation is still in its early stages, according to the Renton Police Department.

No other information is currently available about the victim.
