Lesson Ends In Minor Crash Landing

Two passengers escape crash landing unharmed.

The  closed down Thursday evening following a minor crash. Two passengers in the small, single-engine plane had been out for a flying lesson; however, as the lesson came to a close, not all went as planned.

The front landing gear collapsed during the landing, and the plane skidded to a stop, according to an official with Renton Fire and Emergency Services.

Assistant Airport Manager Jonathan Wilson said the crash occurred at 6:30 p.m.

"The airport reopened about 8:30 pm once the aircraft was removed by the company that owns it," he wrote in an email to Patch.

Both airplane passengers walked away without injury and no fuel was spilled as a result of the crash landing.

One engine, one ladder truck, two battalion chiefs, one medic and one aid car responded to the airport. After setting up command and safety at the scene, the department turned the operation over to the airport manager. 

The fire department remained at the scene until airport employees moved the plane. The airport was reopened after the plane was removed from the runway.
