Renton Fire Fighters will be at the intersection of 140th Avenue & SE Petrovitsky Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Local 864 Renton firefighters will be at the intersection of 140th Avenue & SE Petrovitsky Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday June 10 and Saturday June 11 for their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Their goal this year is to raise over $18,000. Last year, the Renton Fire and Emergency Services Department contributed to the International Association of Fire Fighters’ (IAFF) national total of more than $28 million.

Fill-the-Boot is now in its 57th year, which Renton’s Local 864 has participated in since 2007. Proceeds raised during the “Fill the Boot” campaigns help supports MDA services and research programs in King County; including transportation services, support groups, and local clinics.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors. MDA maintains clinics for area adults and children affected by neuromuscular diseases at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the University of Washington Medical Center.
