Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, Catches Fire

The condition of the driver is unknown. Patch will update this article as more information becomes available.

Drivers beware: Tonight’s early evening commute from downtown Renton to Fairwood and Maple Valley is going to be nasty.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is currently at the scene of a suspected one-car accident where the driver left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole near Petrovitsky and 140th shortly after 3 p.m.

According to Sgt. Cindi West, the car caught fire after striking the pole. Passers-by attempted to help the driver out of the car. The condition of the driver is not currently known.

Petrovitsky remains closed as of 4:30 p.m. and the King County major accident reconstruction team is at the scene investigating. Traffic is being re-routed to the south.

This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
