As the Washington Department of Transportation (@WSDOT_Traffic) tweeted: "Modern art? No, errant paint can(s) on NB SR 167 before I-405."
And it appears that's just what happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on SR-167 near South 28th Place.
The Twitter conversation continued with re-Tweets of traffic puns, including this one from @WSDOT_Traffic and rebroadcast by @TrafficDivas, "this wasn't a failed "comfort lane" painting job, or public art...looks like it fell off the back of a truck."
At one point the backup extended three miles, according to @WSDOT_Traffic. And as of nearly 11 a.m., the spill was still wreaking havoc on the heavily traveled 167.
All lanes were re-opened by 11:30 a.m.
