Theatre, stop-and-swap, a (wine inspired) fundraiser and feel-good volunteer opportunities abound this weekend in Renton.

McLendon Hardwar Outdoor Expo

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Sat, June 4 at .
  • Why Go: Celebrate of the opening of the McLendon store's newly remodeled storefront and enjoy the company of your neighbors and celebrity barbecue chefs in a public-friendly cookoff. It's all part of the McLendon Hardware Outdoor Expo. The Pacific Northwest Barbecue Assocoiation will host the competition and provide some pointers — just in time for Father's Day. Some of the expert advice June 4 will come from Tom Douglas, a Seattle celebrity chef and restauranteur who will autograph his books and demonstrate his barbecue techniques from 11am - 2pm.

Stop & Swap

  • Where/When: Sat., June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Renton Memorial Stadium, 405 Logan Avenue North, Renton, WA.
  • Why Go: One person’s trash may be another's treasure.  Swing by the Renton Swap to drop-off reusable, unwanted items. The City of Renton is holding this free, one-day event to help people swap stuff with their neighbors and help divert quality goods from the waste-stream.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: , June 3-18, Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: From the Renton Civic Theatre web site, "This superb example of the British farce had them rolling in the aisles in London and New York. A taxi driver gets away with having two wives in different areas of London because of his irregular working schedule. Complication is piled upon complication as the cabby tries to keep his double life from exploding."
  • Pricing: $22 for adults , $17 for students and seniors.

 

Vino at The Landing Fundraiser 

  • Where/When: Sunday, June 5 from 5-8 p.m., at .
  • Why Go: The business owners at The Landing are rallying around Sunni Rudd (a waitress at The Rock) who is battling life threatening health issues and mounting medical costs. Sunday's event is a fundraiser for Rudd.
  • Pricing: The cost of the fundraiser is $20 per person which includes wine tasting, beer, and light appetizers. 20% of additional sales will go to the Sunni Rudd fund.

 

Habitat For Humanity East King County

  • Where/When: Saturday, June 4 from 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., at the La Fortuna development in Renton.
  • Why Go: Support a good cause, meet other civi-minded people, and enjoy a free lunch from Taco Time.
