Via Crucis (Living Stations) at St. Anthony Parish Renton

This live portrayal begins outside the church as Jesus Christ is condemned to death, carrying his cross, crowds, Roman soldiers, whipping, Jesus falling down from the weight and agony of his beatings, and ultimately Jesus being nailed to a cross inside the church and the end of a long procession. This event reflects cultural, religious and historical facts.
It is presented by the Hispanic Catholic community at St. Anthony Parish in Renton. This is a very colorful and very dramatic re-enactment of the historical figure of Jesus Christ who claimed he was the Son of God and whose resurrection was verified by numerous people. His suffering to redeem us from our sins and resurrection models for Christians what will happen after the earthly life. This is why Easter is a BIG deal for Christians and is the holiest time of the year. The God of creation came down to earth to die on a cross out of love for us. Then he resurrected to show there is a hope past the sufferings and hardships of our earthly life.
