Bohart’s novel, Mass Murder, will be offered as a free download through Amazon.com through Friday, August 31. Do you love a good mystery? My dad did. That’s why I dedicated my first mystery novel to him. Not only that, I set it in my home town of Sierra Madre, very near where I used to live on Edgeview Drive and the Catholic monastery.

My family moved to Sierra Madre when I was only two years old and I lived there until I was seventeen. I have very fond memories of my years at , working as a swimming instructor and lifeguard at the town pool, and finally graduating from Pasadena High. For those old timers, you might even recognize my name. But even if you don’t, you’d recognize the setting for Mass Murder. In case you’re interested, let me set the stage for you.

When a woman is found dead, hanging by her bra strap in the supply closet of a Catholic monastery, Detective Giorgio Salvatori is called in to handle the case. As a former New York police detective, he’s seen the worst humanity has to offer. But he doesn’t have a good feeling about this case. Soon, his suspicions will be borne out when two more bodies are found on the property. To complicate matters, the specter of a young boy from the 1940s who committed murder, and then suicide, appears to be communicating a message of some sort. But what is it? And does this decades-old murder have anything to do with Savatori’s current investigation?

In Mass Murder, you’ll recognize much of what makes Sierra Madres such a special place to live. While the story I created is completely fictional, it was important for me to set it against a backdrop of a town where anyone would want to live. If you enjoy a good “who-dunnit”, I hope you’ll do me the honor of checking it out. You can find it on Amazon.com as an eBook. But don’t worry, if you don’t have a Kindle, you can download a free “app” to read it on your computer. You can also read the first few chapters online for free to see if you might like it.
