Update: Return To Renton Car Show Draws 480 Cars

Update, July 9, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

By day's end, more than 4,000 people filtered through downtown to enjoy the sight of 480 cars (including a tracktor and a handful of motorcycles).

And the Return to Renton Car Show continues to grow.

This year's final car count was an increase of about 100 cars over the 2011 show, said Jim Medzegian, car show volunteer committee chair. 

Registrations fees and other funds collected through the car show support Renton Police Department Youth Education Programs, including After School Reading Programs, Leadership Camp, Hoop Shoot, Diversity Club, and other Educational and Recreational Youth Programs.

The committee will announce the amount of funds raised by the 22nd annula car show. Check back later for the final tally.

Hundreds of cars and car enthusiasts rolled into Downtown Renton for the .

A few late-morning arrivals pushed this year’s tally to 449 cars as of 11 a.m. As the cars kept coming, event staff and organizers continued to fill the side streets along South Third Street between Morris Avenue and Main Avenue. 

Awards will be announced at 3 p.m. from the car show headquarters booth on the corner of South Third Street and Burnett Avenue South on the corner of the Piazza.
