Cast & Dig: 4th Annual Fly Fishing & Habitat Restoration Event
Cavanaugh Pond Natural Area, Renton
Saturday, July 13 ~ 9:00am-2:00pm
Join Friends of the Cedar River Watershed and King County Parks for a
riparian restoration project on the Cedar River, followed by FREE fly
fishing workshops for all skill levels, guest speakers, and a delicious
lunch! Volunteers will improve habitat by removing invasive plants and
moving weed suppression fabric. Enjoy sustainably-sourced smoked salmon,
and BBQ fare (including vegetarian
options), then learn from local specialists who will be providing
casting and tying demonstrations, one-on-one lessons for all
skill-levels, and an aquatic insect identification lab. We'll also have
casting games and raffle prizes! The art and sport of fly fishing
requires passion and knowledge of river ecology as well as pro-active
conservation. Don't miss this event!
