Maplewood Heights Elementary students, also known as the Panthers, live by their PAWS motto: PrideMore in Achievement, Working for Success. Teachers, school staff, parents and the community work hand-in-hand to foster students' interest in learning, goal setting and personal growth. The original Maplewood Heights was built in 1968 at a cost of $1.1 million and was considered top-of-the-line in terms of innovation and technology of the time. In 1997, the school was rebuilt at a cost of $6.2 million to once again be at the cutting edge in educational offerings. Maplewood Heights Elementary is one of the largest elementary schools in the Renton School District.
