Parents ruin sports..

Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

sportsnut: Seems like a perfect opportunity for you to get involved in coaching... If nothingRead More else, becoming a coach will give you a voice in the league to lobby for equal playing time for all kids, and rotation of positions--particularly at the lower levels.

Thanks for the update, April. Jake is an exceptional player, and deserves all of the accolades he'sRead More received, but I think it's unfair for Coach Brundage to characterize the decision by the Seamount coaches to award League MVP to another player as a "snub" to Jake. There were a number of kids that had great seasons (Connor Forsyth of Foster, Jordan Owen of Tyee, Tyler Gould of Lindbergh, and the two mentioned above, to name a few) and to imply that it was a given that Jake should have won is demeaning to the other players and the voting process that Coach Brundage himself participated in.

Will the Patch publish a daily win/lose report for the Little League championship results? How didRead More Renton do yesterday?
April Chan June 16, 2013 at 10:35 pm
Hi Ken - I believe that is writer Dave Nelson's intention. If we are late in getting results up,Read More however, he does point readers to the league's Facebook page as well for results information. (See bottom of story.)

Mohamud Abdi did the 4 by 4 not the 4 by 1. And that's Aaron Arzaga that am handing off to, notRead More Mitchell.
Dave Nelson May 5, 2013 at 01:17 pm
Mohamud thanks for the catch; the first was my error, the second was an error with the resultsRead More posted. I have correct both. Good luck at Sub-Districts!
