We have been working on it for months. Because before the build begins, the engineering, planningRead More and ordering has to start.

I agree with Phyllis. Now is time to open an indoor gun range next to the transit center.

What happens at the Renton Transit Center isn't just seasonal! It is the drop-off spot for thoseRead More that would vandalize, commit robberies, etc.... then get back on the bus and leave the area. This is now new news for Transit Centers around the world. Transit Centers are not an "enhancement" for neighborhoods or downtowns. The sad thing is that the Renton City Council either chose to ignore input or didn't discover this knowledge before plopping the Transit Center smack in the middle of "old" downtown. It would have been better located on Grady Way. Go figure.

What a story, Michelle! It's amazing to hear how it was that day. Must have been scary to liveRead More through but remarkable to recall...

I was about 12 years old. We were in Centralia so while we didn't get the brunt of the 18th blast,Read More we had continuous ash fallout and one big one about a week or so after May 18. During that one, we were backpacking the Bogachiel River on the Olympic Peninsula and started getting a fine ash fallout. We drove back home with the ash getting heavier and heavier, not knowing if we were going back home to a crater. News was very sketchy and radios weren't working well. Close to home was like driving through a gray blizzard, there was no visibility. That was a scary time as a kid, and I imagine for the adults as well. School was cancelled for the remainder of the year but we had to wear face masks for a while anytime we were outside. I can still remember the distinct smell of those masks.

With Stuart Avery and Beth Asher running for Renton Council we have two highly qualified residentsRead More who know how to work with citizens to address critical concerns in our community. They listen to all their Renton neighbors, have tremendous professional skills and care deeply about the well-being of our community. We are fortunate they have decided to run!

Yes I agree with Phyllis--we need council members who will listen to us, the 76%ers. The thoughtRead More that the library should be moved is the classic example of the wrong-headed approach by the city leadership and the four on the council. We do need change for the better and Stuart Avery and Beth Asher would make that change. Go Stuart and Beth!!

We have an opportunity to make substantial changes to the Renton City Council by voting for StuartRead More Avery and Beth Asher. Both of these people have proven themselves as supporting the will of the people. Thank you both for extending yourselves by running for public office.
Awesome poster designed by Kelly from tomato-tomato.

Aw, Jenny, that sounds so cute. Thanks Margaret! Yes, it was a beautiful day and great way toRead More connect with people in Renton.

I love this post, KB! It reminded me of a similar experience I enjoyed as a child. My dad frequentlyRead More had a table at the local gun shows and he'd give me a small space to display and sell my clay figurines. I'd spend my earnings on beef jerky and other trinkets at the show. I second Margaret; McKenna will cherish this experience forever.

KB, I had to read the whole post as soon as you mentioned your daughter's involvement to see how theRead More day turned out. What a wonderful story! I'll bet she will really remember her first try at being an entrepreneur! And the whole scene sounds like a great way to connect with your community -- thanks for sharing it.
