Renton Technical College began as a war production school and continued as such through World War II. After the war, the college switched to a state-funded vocational school to assist industry with the changing economy, from war-time to peace-time. The college moved to a central campus in 1965. Currently the college is governed by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. Students may earn two-year, sub-baccalaureate degrees and certificates of completion through the college including 36 preparatory program degrees and 80 program certificates.
