Washington Safe Baby Law

Washington State has a Safe Haven Law that allows any mother to give up the newborn less than 72 hours old without question and no legal repercussions.

Reading this very sad and unfortunate and preventable event... another newborn was left to die when it could of been avoided.

This time it was in Ocean Shores and the mother was 21.  But regardless of age and background.  The mother could of gone to any fire station, hospital (emergency department) and/or police station and turned in her baby without any legal repercussions.

Now, the newborn was killed (per the article), the mother and her boyfriend's lives will be forever changed.  I am disappointed that the article doesn't even mention the law that may have of saved this newborn and the future of the mother and boyfriend's future.

Here is the story about the unfortunate choices of this young couple.  The article doesn't even discuss The Safe Haven Law and what other young mother's... do have a choice.
