Renton's Downtown Gets a "Spring Cleaning" on April 23

Teams of volunteers from the City of Renton, Downtown Events Committee, and Piazza Renton to clean-up downtown on April 23.

The is just around the corner (May 7), and Seattle International Film Festival is expected to draw droves of visitors into town in May as well. It's time to shine and polish downtown Renton, so we are for Spring.

On Saturday, April 23, volunteers from the , the downtown events committee, and Piazza Renton will gather at the Piazza park at 9 a.m. and receive instructions on where to spread out through downtown Renton.

Clean-up duties include trash pick up, clearing clogged grates, and other duties as assigned. The comaradie is fun, working with fellow committed Renton citizens. It is dirty work, so wear an old pair of jeans and sneakers and bring some sturdy gloves.

"We'd love to have more volunteers!" Davis-Hayes said. "The more hands we have, the quicker the work."

The experience results in more than just a clean downtown. It builds pride for the city and fosters new friendships.

"The Downtown Clean Up event is a great opportunity to not only make a positive impact in the community by removing litter and weeds, but also to meet others who care about Downtown and discover new and old businesses in the area,” Davis-Hayes said.
