Patch Picks, June 8-10: Tony Awards Party, Pancake Fundraiser, VMC Farmers Market This Weekend In Renton

There's a wide variety of events in town this weekend to tickle your fancy! If we missed anything, please post it to our events calendar or add it in the comments section below.

 

  • When/Where: Thursday June 8, 7 p.m. at , 1717 Maple Valley Hwy
  • Why Go: Join two life-long friends, an upbeat Frog and a worrying Toad, as they make their way through a year of adventures along with all their woodland friends. Based on the beloved children’s books by Arnold Lobel.
  • Cost: $5 adults, $2 children

  • When/Where: Thursday June 8, starting at 6 p.m. at  Renton Memorial Stadium, 405 Logan Ave. N.
  • Why Go: This inspiring overnight event unites the entire community in celebrating those who have had cancer, remembering loved ones lost, and providing an opportunity to fight back against the disease. The event will take place at Renton Memorial Stadium. It will begin at 6 p.m. and extend overnight until Saturday at noon.
  • Cost: Free

  • When/Where: Saturday, June 9 and Sunday June 10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 16840 116th Ave. S.E.
  • Why Go:The Cascade Neighborhood Association is hosting their 1st anual "Dumpster Days!" There will be two dumpsters in the parking lot of the Cascade Shopping Center from 9 - 5 Saturday and Sunday. Area residents can drop off their garage-sale leftovers and household clutter. There will be a special bin for small electronics ready for recycling (cell phones, cables, stray accessories, cameras, laptops, music players) ***Desktop computers, computer monitors & TV's are not included in this event*** Donated items in useable condition will be transported to Habitat for Humanity to be sold in their retail store.
  • Cost: Free

 

  • When/Where: Saturday, June 9 from 11: a.m. – 4 p.m. in the parking lot at , 501 S. Grady Way.
  • Why Go: The , , Raney Brothers BBQ, The Box, , Athena's and Dave's New England Coneys will be at the  - plus prizes and a scavenger hunt inside the store! 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free to attend, plus the cost of food.

 

  • When/Where: Saturday, June 9 from  noon-4 p.m. at The Landing in Renton, 960 Park Ave. N.
  • Why Go: Want to compete for love on "The Bachelor" TV Show?  There is an open Casting Call at The Landing in Renton. ABC Producers will be interviewing women and men for the next season. Visit any merchant location at The Landing and fill out the five-page questionnaire.   • When/Where: Sunday, June 10 from 8 – 10 a.m. at Applebee’s,  375 S Grady Way

Farmers Market at Valley Medical Center

  • When/Where: Sunday, June 10 from noon-4 p.m. at Valley Medical Center, 400 S. 43rd St.
  • Why Go: Purchase fresh produce and treats from local merchants.
  • Cost: No admission charge.

 

  • When/Where: Sunday, June 10 at the Renton Civic Theatre starting at 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: Mark your calendars for 's first annual Tony Awards Party, June 10th, at the theatre! Doors will open at 7p.m. for a red carpet, pre-awards reception; pre-show entertainment will begin at 7:30, and the live broadcast starts at 8 p.m. on the big screen. Join Aunt Dottie for a red carpet entrance, light appetizers, entertainment, and awards show screening. Cocktail attitre preferred, but not required. All ages welcome.
  • Cost: Donations gladly accepted!
