The Puyallup Fair Agriculture and Horticulture Department will accept entries until Sept. 3

Put your fruits and veggies to the test at the 2012 Puyallup Fair, Sept. 7-23.  The Puyallup Fair’s Agriculture and Horticulture Department is accepting fruit, vegetable, pumpkin and vegetable critter submissions online until Monday, September 3 at 10 p.m.

As a longstanding tradition, the Fair invites produce growers in Washington to enter their fruits and vegetables. All produce must be submitted to the Agriculture Department in the Americraft ShowPlex on Tuesday Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A cash prize will be awarded to first and second place winners in each division.

The giant pumpkin weigh-off is scheduled to hit the scales Friday, Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the Large Show Arena. The first place winners of both the adult and junior divisions will receive $1 per pound, adult and junior second place winners will receive $500 and $300 respectively. Third place will receive $400 in the adult division, and $200 in the junior division.
