A Need For Speed; This Is Your Weekend

Hydros on Lake Washington and the NW Nationals at Pacific Raceway

Hydroplanes going 150 miles per hour or hot rods going over 300 miles per hour in a quarter mile. Take your pick. This weekend is perfect for speed junkies.

The National Hot Rod Association returns to Pacific Raceways in Kent for the 25th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries.

Top Fuel dragsters have a two-way tie for the points lead. Antron Brown and Spencer Massey have 1174 points look to this weekend to take command.

Robert Hight has an 81 point over Ron Capps in Funny Cars and Allen Johnson has a 54 point lead over Greg Anderson in Pro Stock. Erica Enders will also be on hand, she became first woman to win in NHRA Pro Stock, beating four-time champion Greg Anderson in the finals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.

The 63rd annual hydroplane races and the Albert Lee Cup on Lake Washington will wrap up this Seafair weekend. Steve David aboard the Miss Oh Boy Oberto will battle Auburn's Dave Villwock in the Miss Spirit of Qatar.

Villwock leads in points with 4600, David is second with 4410 and last week's Tri-Cities winner Jimmy Shane (Miss Graham Trucking) is third with 3633.
