WIAA Announces Winter Broadcast Schedule

WIAA Network to feature this weekend's state cheer championships

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) will continue its broadcast of the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Championships with live coverage of Wrestling, Basketball, Cheerleading and Dance/Drill.

During the Fall, the WIAA partnered with When We Were Young Productions and PlayOn! Sports, which has merged to PlayON! Sports, to create the WIAA Network, a cross-platform endeavor that delivers television and web coverage of the WIAA State Events.  In the Fall, the WIAA Network broadcasted Girls Swimming, Football, Cross-Country and Girls Soccer.

State Cheer will be the first event showcased for the Winter Season, Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Comcast Arena at Everett.  Coverage is slated to begin at 2 p.m. and will continue throughout the award ceremony.

State Wrestling (Mat Classic XXIV) and Gymnastics will continue coverage of the Winter Season at the Tacoma Dome.  Mat Classic coverage will feature live matches on Saturday, Feb. 18 from all six different classifications and the women’s bouts, while a highlight package will air one week after the event for Gymnastics.

For the first time in the Association’s history, each of the six basketball championship games will be broadcasted from the three different venues (Tacoma Dome, Yakima Valley SunDome, Spokane Arena).  In addition to the championship broadcasts, additional games will be broadcasted throughout the tournament from the Spokane Arena.

PlayON! Sports will complete the coverage of the Winter Season with a live broadcast of Dance/Drill, Saturday, March 24 at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
