The Renton Indians are and have won three in a row. The team has doubled in size since the first game against Cedarcrest, and now look to take on Kennedy Catholic Friday, Oct. 7 at Renton Memorial Stadium. The winner could claim the Seamount League title.
“We have a few kids available this week and a few more available the following week, said head coach Donald Ponds. “These additions will help our line who has stayed healthy.”
Coach Ponds hopes the community will come out Friday night for what could be the Seamount League championship game.
“The kids are excited for this game and we hope the community will come and fill the stadium,” he said. “I will have to dust off the records books to see when the last time we beat Kennedy.”
Renton is led by Anthony Gold who has scored 14 touchdowns in the first five games and rushed for 831 total yards including 219 yards in kickoff returns.
“Gold is our go-to-guy, but we want to use Da'Ssuan Sauls (quarterback) and gives some routes to PJ Mattingly (wide receiver)," he said.
Renton has Evergreen, Foster and Hazen left on the schedule this season.
