Renton Wins Homecoming Game 30-6 Over Evergreen

Lindbergh routs Franklin 49-0; Hazen wins 56-7; and playoff updates.

On the night when the Renton Indians celebrated their Homecoming, its football team celebrated a win over Evergreen 30-6 Friday night at Renton Stadium. The win secures the Indians second seed playoff spot in Week 10. The Indians face its cross-town rival, Hazen, next Friday.

The Indians didn't waste time getting on the board with junior quarterback Da'ssaun Sauls' three yard touchdown run; then Elijah Clayton scored after a 11 yard fumble return for a 14-6 halftime.

Sauls passed to Ray Castro (47 yard reception) and Kenneth Green (19 yard reception) for touchdowns. Kicker Uriel Gonzalez hit from 28 yards out for a 30-6 final. Gonzalez was 3 for 4 on extra point attempts.

Sauls completed 8 for 14 with 178 yards passing. Overall the Indians rushed 40 times for 148 yards.

Renton returns to the playoffs for the second time under head coach Donald Ponds. The Indians are expected to play Olympic League champion Bremerton in Week 10 (date, time and location to be determined).

Freshmen- Rachelle Ibanez and Isaac Leng;

Sophomores- Niaemoney Smith and Tony Pham;

Juniors- Taylor Farris and Jonathan Pendleton;

Lindbergh 49, Franklin 0

Lindbergh defeated 3A Franklin Thursday night at Renton Stadium as a warm-up to next Thursday's league championship against Kennedy Catholic.

Cam Callen and Daniel Wiitanen each had two touchdowns in the victory to keep Lindbergh undefeated in league play. The only loss was their first game against West Seattle as a forfeit due to ineligible players.

Callen's first touchdown was a nine yard touchdown reception from Tyrell Shavers. This second was a 15 yard run.

Wiitanen scored his two touchdowns on 27 and 36 yard runs. Also scoring touchdowns were Devonn Jackson on a 25-yard pass from Shavers; Brandon Mills on a 23-yard interception return; and Casey Smith's three yard run. Derrick Holt was 7 for 7 on point after attempts. 

Hazen 56, Foster 7

Jordan Abdullah scored four touchdowns for the Highlanders Friday night at Highline Stadium. Abdullah scored each touchdown on runs of 3, 13, 40 and 65 yards.  

Kyle Nelson ran a 42 yard punt return for the first touchdown of the game. Also scoring was Joe Glaefke on a two yard run; Drew Kelly on a 80 yard interception return; and TJ Andrews on a 24 yard run. Kicker Sam Bunnell was 8 for 8 on point after attempts.
