Renton Boys Hang On To Beat Sumner; Lindbergh Loses

The Renton Indians boys basketball team bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat Sumner 57-52 in the 2A Sub-District tournament Wednesday evening. The win has guarnteed the second ranked Indians (20-1) a spot in next week's 2A West Central District tournament. They will play the sixth ranked White River Saturday to determine their seed. A win means the team will secure a number one seed, a loss will secure the fourth seed.

The Lindbergh boys (11-10) were not so lucky, losing to Franklin Pierce 61-53. The Eagles will play Friday against league rival Foster.

Senior forward Chris Harraway scored 15 points, freshman guard Connor O'Hearn with 14 points and senior wing Colin Malone with 11 points. The Eagles were leading the game at the end of the 3rd quarter 43-36; however, they were outscored in the fourth 25-10.

Lindbergh and Foster split the series this season with Foster winning on December 5, 68-58 and Lindbergh winning the last game on January 9, 51-46. If the Eagles win Friday they will secure a sixth seed in the 2A West Central District tournament. A loss and the Eagles would have to play in a loser out game on Saturday where the winner would be the seventh and final seed.

Game 7 - Steilacoom vs Sumner at Lakes, 6 p.m. (winner #5 seed to 2A WCD)

Game 8 - Lindbergh vs Foster at Lakes, 8 p.m. (winner #6 seed to 2A WCD)

2A Boys Sub-Districts—Saturday February 9:

Game 5 - White River vs Renton at Lakes, 6 p.m. (winner is #1 seed to 2A WCD, loser is #4 seed to 2A WCD).

Game 6 - Franklin Pierce vs Clover Park at Lakes, 8 p.m. (winner is #2 seed to 2A WCD, loser is #3 seed to 2A WCD).

Game 9 - Game 7 loser vs Game 8 loser at Lakes, 4 p.m (winner is #7 seed to 2A WCD, loser out).
