Prep Recap: Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Swimming, Football

The following are highlights from this weekend’s prep sports coverage in districts:

Girls soccer - Lindbergh 3, Orting 0 – The Eagles host Hockinson at Renton Stadium (date and time to be announced). Winner plays Fife/Squalicum winner at their
stadium.

Girls soccer – Kennedy Catholic 3, Wilson 2 (overtime, shootout). The Lancers host Everett on Wednesday at Highline Stadium.

Girls soccer – Columbia River 4, Hazen 0 (Hazen out)

Girls soccer – Klahowya 8, Renton 1 (Renton out)

Boys cross country – Lindbergh boys placed 10th overall; after finishing first last year. The Eagles were led by senior Mohamud Abdi who finished 25th overall (16:22.7). Other Eagles include: Colton Maddy 42nd, 16:46.6; Mitchell Hughey 74th (17:15.9); Omelyan Strembitskyy, 83rd (17:22.6); Ismael Purganan 107th (17:54.4); Titus Owen 122nd (18:13.6); David Huff 136th (18:50.6).

Renton’s only runner was senior Brian Reilly 43rd overall (16:49.1).

Hazen’s only runner senior Daniel Karpman placed 64th overall (16:52.9).

Girls cross country – Lindbergh junior Thuong Nguyen led all local runners with a 58th place finish in the 2A girls race. She completed the 5,000 meter course in 20:46.3. Freshman Christine Villanueva placed 85th (21:12).

2A Girls swim/dive – Renton’s Tala Hild won the 100 fly at
the district championships.

3A Girls swim/dive – Hazen and Kennedy Catholic dueled it out for the district title Saturday at the Hazen pool; the Lancers edged the Highlanders 205-180. Hazen’s won titles in the 200 medley relay (Talisa Wibmer, Kourtney Brunnings, Clarissa Mitchell, Amy Lebar), 100 back (Talisa Wibmer)

Kennedy won titles in the 200 free and 100 fly (Vanessa Moffatt), 200 IM (Angela Gagliardo), Diving (Ashley Knox), and 400 free relay (Vanessa Moffatt, Hannah Baillie, Anna Luksetich, Angela Gagliardo).

Football – Bremerton 26, Renton 0 (Renton out)

Football – Ferndale 22, Hazen 16 (Hazen out)

Football – Kennedy Catholic 35, Mountlake Terrace 29. The Lancers travel to Vancouver to play Columbia River, date, time, location have not been determined.

Volleyball – Kennedy Catholic 3, Wilson 1; Bonney Lake 3, Kennedy Catholic 2, Timberline 3, Kennedy Catholic 0. (Kennedy Catholic out)
