No. 7 Ranked Eagles Capture League Title

Team batting .467 with 53 doubles and 2.05 ERA

The Lindbergh Eagles baseball team captured the Seamount League title May 1 after defeating Kennedy 9-1. The Eagles who are ranked seventh among Class 2A schools according to Lem Elway (this is the only state baseball poll ranking all four classifications.)

Lindbergh is led by Head Coach Benny Benavides and went undefeated at 15-0. The team’s batting average is .467 with an on base percentage .575. The Eagles have 430 at bats hitting 201 times with 190 runs batted in and 219 runs. The team has also hit 11 home runs, 53 doubles and three triples. They have successfully stolen 30 of 35 attempts.

Their pitchers have a 2.05 era with a .192 batting average allowed 37 walks and striking out 73 batters.

Lindbergh opens West Central 2A Sub-District play Friday vs. Olympic League #1 (North Kitsap/Port Angeles) at the Silverdale Fairgrounds, 7 p.m.  A win Lindbergh will play the winner of Olympic #2 vs SPSL #1 at 7 p.m. on Saturday. A loss they will play Saturday at 4 p.m. against the loser of Olympic #2 vs SPSL #1. Both games will be at the Silverdale Fairgrounds.
