Renton, Hazen, Lindbergh Teams Looking To Earn Playoff Spots

Renton boys and girls may secure league's #1 seeds next week.

If you thought March Madness was anything, local high school basketball teams are coming down to the final two weeks of the regular season with each school's boys and girls teams advancing to the subdistricts.

The Renton boys and girls basketball teams have a chance to secure the league's number one seed next Tuesday with wins over Lindbergh. The boys 11-0 league and 17-0 overall are ranked second in the state according to the Associated Press. The team received four first place votes, down from five the prior week. The Renton girls are also undefeated in league play at 11-0, 14-2 overall. They are ranked ninth in the Associated Press poll.

Renton boys head coach Rick Comer tries not to measure the team's success by its ranking, but admits that he does glance at the polls every once and awhile.
