Former Lindbergh graduate Patrick Claussen was selected Wednesday on the third day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Draft. Clauseen, a third baseman for Washington State University, was selected in the 34th round and selected as the 1,037th overall pick.
"I'm very blessed and fortunate," Claussen in a press release issued by the University. "I want to thank all my coaches throughout my career. Once a Cougar, always a Coug."
A senior, Claussen batted .301 in his final season with the Cougars. His 17 doubles are tied for seventh in the Pac-12. He started 53 games this season and is a three-time conference all-academic honoree.

"This is the best draft for me since I have been at Washington State," Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "All of these guys worked very hard to have a professional opportunity and each one of them deserves it."

JUNIOR (2011): Played in 36 games, including 23 starts...batted. 261 with three doubles, one triple, one home run and 16 RBI...back-to-back, three-hit games against Utah Valley, March 12-13...went 4-for-5 with double, triple, career-high five RBI, four runs and a stolen base against Washington, April 30...Pacific-10 All-Academic Second Team.
SOPHOMORE (2010): Played in 41 games, including 20 starts...batted .282, including one home run and 17 RBI...Pacific-10 All-Academic First Team.
FRESHMAN (2009): Played in 39 games, including 19 starts...batted .279 with five doubles, one triple, and seven RBI...started collegiate career with eight-game hitting streak, going 11-for-23 with six runs and three doubles...had only triple and multi-RBI game in 13-8 win at Utah, April 21...recorded three hits, double, and three runs against South Dakota State, March 20.
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Earned four letters in baseball...four-time Seamount League All-Academic First Team selection...All-Seamount League honorable mention as a freshman...team MVP and All-Seamount League First Team shortstop as a junior and senior...all-state second team as a junior.
