Lindbergh 9, Renton 0
After losing 4-0 to Hazen last week, Lindbergh coach James Valles hoped his team would bounce back against the Indians Tuesday night at Renton Memorial Stadium.
His team not only bounced, they played like it was their last game.
For the Eagles, it's only just the beginning. Their 9-0 win secured the team’s spot as the number one seed in next week's 2A West Central District playoffs, November 3.
Lindbergh's Justine Yarington scored the first goal with an assist from Meaghan Hanson at the two minute mark of the game. Yarington score another goal in the 60th minute from an assist by teammate Megan O'Hanlon, who had three assists in the game and scored one goal.
Elise Aylward scored three goals in the first half: the first at the 10-minute mark from Mia Ramos; her second in the 20th minute from Megan O'Hanlon; and her final goal three minutes later in the 23rd minute from O'Hanlon. Lindsey Pfluger finished the first half out with a goal from teammate Alicia Wasico. Meaghan Hanson scored in the 50th from Wasico, who also scored a goal in the 80th minute from Julia Fallgreen.
Lindbergh (11-4 overall) plays the winner from the South Puget Sound League #5 (currently Steilacoom) or Olympic #5 (currently Port Townsend) game at Highline Stadium, November 3 at 10 a.m.
For the first time in several years, Renton has also made the playoffs. The Indians' the league number two seed (2A) will travel to play either North Kitsap or Klahowya on November 3 at Silverdale Stadium at 12 p.m. The winner will then head to state.
