Lindbergh's Mohamud Abdi Wins 2A Subdistrict XC

Hazen's Daniel Karpman placed fourth in the 3A boys race.

Lindbergh senior Mohamud Abdi added to this collection of titles Saturday after winning the 2A Subdistrict Championship at Fort Steilacoom. Abdi returned to the course where he had earlier set a personal best on September 15 of 15:46.8. His time of 16:00 flat was the third fastest among 4A/3A/2A runners.

Renton' Brian Reilly placed fifth in the 1500 meter race (16:38.5) and Hazen's Daniel Karpman placed fourth in the 3A boys race (16:39).

On the girls side, Lindbergh's Thuong Nguyen placed 10th (21:02.3); Renton's Ashley Ponce placed 23rd (22:11.3). Hazen's Kristin Ericksen placed 19th in the 3A race (21:33.1).

Hazen's Dario Cirlincione won the boys junior varsity race (17:59.4).

The Fort Steilacoom course is generally flat and open in the first mile. There is a hill at about 1 ¼ miles, and at 2 ¼ miles. The course is wide open, with plenty of room to run.

Saturday, October 27, is the Westside Classic at American Lake Golf Course. The 3A boys race starts at 10:30 a.m.; 2A girls race at 11:30 a.m.; 3A girls race at 12:05 p.m; 2A boys race at 1:10 p.m.

The following are breakdowns for qualifying for the State Championships in Pasco:

  • 2A Girlsfrom Districts 2 and 3 will compete in a 12-team race with 5 teams and the top 25 placing individual runners advancing to the State meet in Pasco.
  • 2A Boys from District 2 and 3 will compete in a 12--team race with 6 teams and the top 30 placing individual runners advancing to the State meet in Pasco.
  • 3A Girls from Districts 3 and 4 will compete in a 12-team race with 5 teams and the top 25 placing individual runners advancing to the State meet in Pasco.
  • 3A Boys from Districts 3 and 4 will compete in a 12-team race with 5 teams and the top 25 placing individual runners advancing to the State meet in Pasco.
