Jaramillo Helps Lindbergh Defeat Renton in Soccer Match

Renton scored first but was denied their first win of the season.

Troy Jaramillo scored three goals as the Lindbergh Eagles held on to win 3-2 against the Renton Indians. Lindbergh (2-7-2 Overall, 2-5-1 Seamount) defeated the Indians (0-7) twice this season.

Jaramillo helped the Eagles break the tie three times during the contest.  The first goal for Lindbergh came in less than 2 minutes into the first half as Renton’s Goalkeeper Alexiz Quintana tried to intercept the ball on the outside of the box. The ball went over Quintana’s head as Jaramillo stuck with the ball to score. Jaramillo followed with a second goal before the end of the first half in a one-on-one battle with Quintana. The Eagles’ final goal came in the 52nd minute as Jaramillo was able to score the open goal.

“He’s usually my sweeper and I moved him to a forward position,” said Lindbergh Head Coach Kirk Tavener. “Troy really played above and beyond himself today.”

Renton’s Cristian Martinez scored the first goal in the game’s 18th minute as he was able to get the ball past Eagles’ Goalkeeper Bikramdeep Thind. Vladimir Hernandez scored the team’s final goal in the 48th minute to tie the game 2-2. In the end the Indians tried twice to tie the game. Christian Plancarte tried to get a goal from a penalty kick that was blocked by Lindbergh’s Cameron Sarginson. Renton had one more shot after a corner kick was unable to score.

Tavener said Renton is a different team from the last time they played against each other, coming together to play more competitively.
