Hazen Soccer Tops #4 Decatur, 6-3

Highlanders play Columbia River Saturday at 1 p.m. at Highline Stadium

Entering Wednesday night's 3A Subdistrict soccer tournament, Hazen coach Ken Matthews knew he was going to have his hands full with fourth ranked Decatur. In the end Hazen dominated the Gators winning 6-3.From the kickoff the Highlanders took advantage and scored two minutes into the match Sam Bunnell teamed up with Frankie Johnson on a through ball that Bunnell scored two minutes into the game.  Four minutes later Jordan Lewison scored on a through ball by Johnson.  Johnson scored his first of the night on a through ball by Casey Guay 7:00 minutes into the game.  Devin Sando’s through ball gave Johnson another goal at 68:00 minutes.  Johnson got his hat trick in the 76:00 minute assisted by Conner Hall.  With two minutes left, Sam Bunnell’s cross led to Lewison’s second goal.“Four of six goals came off of through balls,” said Matthews.  When we’re playing like that #4, #12, #18 – we can compete.  Now we have to do this all over Saturday.” With the win, Hazen secured the first seed into the Bi-District Playoffs.  The Highlanders play Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Highline Memorial Stadium versus Columbia River in a winner to state loser out game.**Information for this story was provided by the Hazen Soccer Team in a press release **
