Two Seconds Separate Hazen From Swim Title
Renton's Tala Hild qualifies for 2A State championship in 100 fly.
It was a battle to the end between Kennedy Catholic and Hazen during the Seamount League swimming and diving championships Saturday at the Hazen Pool. Right from the start, both teams traded points for the lead. Kennedy Catholic was up 331-329 with one race, the 400-yard free relay.
Hazen already posted the fastest prelim time of 3:55.75. The Highlanders then fell behind and were not able to catch up, despite an attempt by senior Amy LeBar who closed a five-second gap to just over two seconds. The loss was devastating for the swimmers and the team as they all came together at the starting blocks to hug LeBar and others.
