Highlanders Shooting For District Berth Against Lions

Hazen boys soccer takes on Auburn Mountainview Wednesday at Renton Stadium in the 3A Sub-District playoffs. Both teams will qualify for Saturday's 3A West Central District playoffs.

The Highlanders are aiming for the number one seed. "Our expectations are off the charts.  Auburn Mountainview is again a very good team," said Hazen Head Coach Ken Matthews. "This is going to be a tough game.  Because of last year I doubt anyone is going to take us lightly."

Coach Matthews says "this teams success is regardless who is out there at any given time we have 11 leaders on the field all the time. 

Hazen lost last year to Bainbridge in the first round of the 3A state championships. The Highlanders won the 3A state in 2007 beating Camas 2-1.

Wednesday, May 8

Game 1 - Auburn Mountainview vs Hazen at Renton Stadium, 7 p.m. (Winner #1 seed to districts, loser #4 seed to districts)

Game 2 - Enumclaw vs Bonney Lake at Franklin Pierce, 7:30  p.m. (Winner #2 seed to districts, loser #3 seed to districts).

Game 3 - Decatur vs Kennedy Catholic  at  Franklin Pierce, 5:30 p.m. (Winner #5 seed to districts, loser out).

Game 1 - Narrows #2 vs Enumclaw/Bonney Lake loser, 11 a.m. at Highline Stadium (winner Dist 3/4 #6 seed, loser out)

Game 2 - GSHL #2 vs Narrows #2, 1 p.m. at Highline Stadium (winner Dist 3/4 #5 seed, loser out)

Game 3 - GSHL #3 vs Enumclaw/Bonney Lake winner, 3 p.m. at Highline Stadium (winner Dist 3/4 #4 seed, loser out)

Game 4 - Narrows #4 vs Hazen/Auburn Mountainview winner, 4 p.m. at Auburn Stadium (winner Dist 3/4 #1 seed, loser out)
