UPDATE: Lindbergh loses to White River 2-1

Hazen captures 3A WCD #1 seed; Lindbergh 2A WCD #2 seed; Renton out

UPDATE 9:45 p.m.

The Lindbergh Eagles suffered its first loss this season the 2A Sub District Championship game against White River 2-1.

Eagles pitcher Ryan White gave up only 3 hits but Lindbergh was unable to string any hits of their 7 together for additional runs.

Lindbergh advances to next week's 2A West Central District Tournament as the number two seed. They will receive a first round bye and open play on Wednesday against the winner of Fife-Olympic at Franklin Pierce at 5 p.m. The Eagles will need two back to back wins to reach the 2A Regionals.

Hazen who won the 3A West Central District number one seed will play the winner of Columbia River-Bonney Lake at Auburn Mountain View High School on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

2A seeds:

1 - White River; 2 - Lindbergh; 3 - White River; 4 - Port Angeles; 5 - Interlake; 6 - Sequim; 7 - Fife; 8 - Franklin Pierce; 9 - Kingston; 10 - Olympic; 11 - Sumner; 12 - Foster.

 

3A seeds:

SSB 1 - Hazen; SSB 2 - Peninsula; SSB 3 - Decatur; SBB 4 Bonney Lake; SSB 5 - Enumclaw.

Nar 1 - Timberline; Nar 2 - Yelm; Nar 3 - Capital

SW 1 - Mountain View; SW 2 - Camas; SW 3 - Columbia River

 

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.

Lindbergh went 14 innings against North Kitsap Saturday afternoon in the 2A Sub District baseball playoffs to win 1-0. Matt Stuart and Brett Love combined for a four hitter, and Billy Hernandez scored the winning run on Derrick Holt's single.

The Eagles will play White River at 7 p.m. at the Kitsap Fairgrounds. A win, the Eagles secure the number one seed in next weeks West Central District tournament. A loss, they will be the second seed.

Hazen defeated Peninsula Thursday evening to capture the number one seed entering next weeks West Central/Southwest Districts tournament on Wednesday. The Highlanders will face the winner of the Southwest  #3/Seamount #4 at 7 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview High School.

Hazen rallied in the sixth with four runs to beat the Seahawks 6-3. Jake Kolterman pitched five innings with five hits, four walks and six strikeouts. His brother Zac pitched two innings with five strikeouts for the win. Kyle Nelson was one of four players to hit, going 2 for 3 including a double.

Other playoffs:

Renton was elminiated from 2A Subdistrict play Friday night after losing to Kingston 12-2. The Indians scored runs in the first inning, but gave up six in the second.

Lindbergh (Seamount #1) faces North Kitsap (Olympic #1) Saturday at North Mason High School in Belfair after being rained out Friday night.. A Lindbergh win they would face off against the winner of Port Angeles (Olympic #2)/White River (SPSL #1) Saturday at Kitsap Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.  (Winner is the WCD #1 seed, loss is the WCD#2 seed)

A Lindbergh loss against North Kitsap they would face the loser of Port Angles/White River at 4 p.m. also at the Kitsap Fairgrounds. Winner here is the WCD #3 seed, loser is the WCD #4. Opening WCD tournament play begins Wednesday May 9 for the Eagles.
