UPDATE 2A WCD Girls: Renton advances to 2A Regionals

Indians dominate Eatonville 60-37 for third seed; play Saturday against W.F. West at Tumwater High School

Update Monday, Feb 20, 9 a.m.

The Renton Indians were not going to lose another game despite already qualifying for this weekend's 2A Regional tournament. The Indians had lost two of their last five games and came out to play against seventh ranked Eatonville, beating them 60-37.

Four Indians scored in double digits Taylor Farris 15 points; Jordan Armstrong 13 points; Shanease Kenner 10 points; Priscilla Tuiasosopo 10 points.

Renton (18-6) faces fourth ranked W.F. West of Chehalis, Saturday in a loser out 2A Regional at 4 p.m. at Tumwater High School. Winner will advance to the state tournament at the Sundome in Yakima the following week. If the Indians win, it will be the first time since 1987 they have qualified for the state tournament.

Update Sunday, Feb 19, 12:30 p.m.

The Lindbergh girls basketball team were eliminated from the 2A WCD basketball tourny Saturday afternoon after losing 53-49. The Eagles finish the season at 8-13. No additional details of the game were reported.

The Renton Indians who already qualified for the state Regional next Saturday were unable to comeback and beat Port Angeles 54-52. The Indians were down 33-16 at the half, they were able to outscore Port Angles 24-9 in their third period.

The Indians had three in double digits (Jordan Armstrong 16 points, Priscilla Tuiasosopo with 16 points; and Taylor Farris with 12 points).

Renton (17-3) will face Eatonville (who lost to White River 47-44) on Monday at Lakes High, 6 p.m. The winner will be the District 3 #3 seed  and the loser will be the District 3 #5 seed.

2A Regionals - Saturday, February 25

Renton win (Monday) play WF West at Tumwater, Saturday 4 p.m.

Renton loss (Monday) play Burlington Edison at Stanwood, Saturday, 6 p.m.

 

UPDATE Saturday, Feb 18, 8:15 a.m.:

A second half cameback earned the Renton Indians their first state appearance since 1987 by defeating Olympic 46-44. The Indians were down 29-18 at the half, but outscored Olympic 28-15 in the second half. Renton's Taylor Farris led all scorers with 19 points. Renton faces Port Angeles in semi-final action Saturday.

The Lindbergh girls will play Olympic Saturday in a loser-out game at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles need to win two games to advance to state.

The Lindbergh girls basketball team got off to a rough start in the 2A West Central District tournament Wednesday night losing to Interlake 48-32. The Eagles will now play the loser of Friday's Renton-Olympic game, Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Indians will face the Olympic on Friday. A win Friday and the Indians will return to the state regionals for the first time since 1987.
