2012 Year In Review: Renton's Sports Community Hits Highs, Lows
Basketball arena talks top this year's sports stories.
The top read sports stories in Renton Patch this year included coverage of a possible arena for the SuperSonics and a possible National Hockey League team in the Seattle' SODO arena, south of Safeco Field.
Renton Mayor Denis Law confirmed to Patch in July that separate talks were in place to build a sports arena south of the Landing; however, the investor who approached the city never followed through. Another story that peaked interest was just much Clay Bennett wanted the Renton SuperSonics.
We saw the passing of a great Renton football player Bill Donckers who started as a pee-wee and ended in the National Football League.
