2012 Lindbergh Football Preview

Callen and Holt hope to lead Eagles back to playoffs.

The Lindbergh football team has had its ups and downs.

Head Coach Pat O'Grady received word that senior Cameron Callen wanted to play football after repairing a torn labrum earlier in the year, but the injury will limit him to offensive plays. Last year Callen had 1,274 total yards and 19 touchdowns.

O'Grady aslo lost starting quarterback Matt Stuart, who decided to . Stuart, who holds nearly every Lindbergh High School quarterback record, will remain on the sideline to teach junior quarterback Tyrell Shavers the ropes. The Eagles may still be able to count on their defense; however a low turn out jeopardizes depth on the team.

Strength - Tyrell Shavers takes over for Matt Stuart, he doesn't have Matt's arm, but he is faster. Look for Cameron Callen and Derrick Holt to be on the other side of Shaver's passes. Greg Keir transfers from Tahoma (6'3 240 pound) will add depth to the three other linemen returning. Holt also is one of the best field goal kickers in the region, last year was 5 of 7, the longest from 48 yards out and completed 28 of 35 on point after attemtps.

Weakness - Player turnout. Currently the Eagles only have 35 at practice. Players will have to learn multiple positions on both sides of the ball. O'Grady says he had 60 at spring ball and hopes next week when school starts the numbers go up.

Preseason Maxpreps Ranking - 12th in 2A (before Stuart's injury), 72nd in the entire state and 3194 nationaly.Big Game - Every week will be a big game for the Eagles, first the city championship games, then hosting 3A Metro powerhouse Franklin on October 18, then Kennedy the following week.
