I'm going to be blogging here about some of the good things happening on the West Hill, and I'm happy to announce that starting Saturday, June 23rd through October, Mike Verdi from Whistling Train Farm in Kent will be selling farm fresh, picked-that-morning produce at Minter's Earlington Nursery, 13043 Renton Avenue S., from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting Mike at the Skyway Farmer's Market last summer. Mike and his wife Shelley have two children, and their crops are grown using organic farming methods. Here are links to information about them, and their growing methods:

Here in Skyway, we talk about the lack of grocery stores, and some refer to our community as a food desert. There are two good ways to approach healthier, affordable eating this summer. Buy some vegetable starts from Minter's Earlington Nursery, and take home some fresh, delicious, nutritional produce from Whistling Train Farm.
There's plenty of parking at the nursery, and it's a beautiful setting, with a magnificent view of Mt. Rainier. We hope to see lots of neighbors from both Renton and Skyway enjoying the nursery and produce stand on Saturdays. Bring your family, and we'll see you there!
