School's Out: Time for Summer Camp!

There are still plenty of camping experiences for kids available for the summer, from pre-school to age 21.

It is summer, the kids are out of school, and you desperately do not want to hear, “Mom, I’m bored!”

It is not too late to sign up the kids for a camp session. There are still plenty to choose from. Here is a sampling (please note these still had availability at press-time):

  1. For kids ages 3-8, Evergreen City Ballet offers day camps. Your princess or prince can sign up for “Fancy Nancy” or “Cinderella.” There still classes available in July and August. Children will dance, craft, snack, and have story time.  The classes are $95, with a registration fee. For more specific information , visit Evergreen City Ballet's web site.
  2. Do you have a budding Matt Hasselbeck or John Carlson on your hands? Look no further for your budding football player than the . The camps are full at 200 people, so sign up now. There are two in July in Renton. For ages 8-14, the camps are free. For more information, visit the Seahawks' web site.
  3. The City of Renton web site lists a ton of camps, many of which are full, but there are plenty that are still open. The web site is user-friendly and grouped by category, so we urge you to check out what is still available in July and August. Here are three:
  4. Renton Symphony Youth Orchestra, is a challenging experience for your kids interested in music and the arts. It is geared toward ages 12-21 and the camp runs from August 15-19 at . See the City’s website for specific information, cost, and sign up information.
  5. Don’t wait too long, the Art of Nature Camp is filling up quick for budding artists age 6-10. It is a week-long camp, July 5-8. With sketch books and easels, the kids will work on painting and drawing the lovely landscapes at . The cost is $168.00, and runs 9-4 p.m.
  6. The Itty, Bitty ones can camp, too. At Itty Bitty Camp Aqua Adventures, your toilet-trained kids age 3-5 can play games, do crafts, sing songs, and splash. And, you get a t-shirt, to boot. The cost is $75 for residents/$90 for non-residents. The class is still open from July 5-8.
