School Board Recognizes Outstanding Seniors at Secondary Learning Center


Six exceptional students from the Secondary Learning Center have been recognized as Outstanding Seniors by Renton School Board members.

The students are a talented group of young people who have succeeded in the classroom, served their community and represented the school with poise and integrity. Students were selected based on academic achievement, leadership, co-curricular involvement, citizenship and character, community service, and contributions to their classmates and school.

Hazen Senior Receives Top Jewelry Industry Honor

Hazen High School senior Jose Lins recently received the highest national honor available in the jewelry industry by placing first in the Saul Bell Emerging Artist Awards competition, which was part JCK international jewelry convention held in Las Vegas.

Jose created a beautiful necklace for the competition, which garnered international attention and a $500 prize. Jose attend the event with his father as guests of Rio Grande – a jewelry industry supply firm and leading sponsor of the design competition.

Lindbergh High Students Battle Robotics

Lindbergh High School students on the robotics team recently competed against students from five other Puget Sound high schools in the annual robotics competition which combines the excitement of sport with science and technology. About 120 students designed and built more than 40 robots to contend in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing competition which displays a high level of sophistication in creating robots to complete a wide variety of maneuvers.
