Renton Roughed Up In 23-6 Playoff Loss

Lack of depth killed season's outcome.

The football team was eliminated from the 2A playoffs Tuesday night at Renton Stadium, losing to Port Angeles 23-6 in front of a “low census” crowd.

The Indians were without star running back, . Sophomore running back Ernie Davis was also unavailable due to an ankle sprain also suffered during the Hazen game.

Following the game, head coach Donald Ponds said he was encouraged with quarterback Da’Ssaun Sauls' ability to run with the ball. Sauls had 24 carries for 108 yards rushing, including Renton's only touchdown in the third quarter.

“We again were unable to execute plays, it was the small things we didn’t do” said Ponds. Two key missed snaps from the center and drop passes limited the offensive’s ability to make an impact and change the game.
