Renton's Kennydale Elementary Named 2013-2014 Reward School

The state designation is given to Title 1 schools who have made significant achievements on standardized test scores.

Kennydale Elementary in Renton is one of 75 Washington schools named 2013-2014 Reward Schools by State Superintendent Randy Dorn.

The Reward School designation identifies schools that receive federal Title 1 funds and are meeting benchmarks on standardized test scores or showing significant improvement.

Kennydale received a "high progress" designation, meaning it has performed in the top 10 percent of all Title 1 schools for reading and math for the past three years.

“Kennydale Elementary is a school full of talented, compassionate, committed educators and parents who work diligently to increase academic rigor and engage students in meaningful learning,” Kennydale Principal Bill Tarter said in a statement posted to the Renton School District's Facebook page. “I am so proud to be a part of a learning community that works this hard, cares this much and is able to affect such wonderful results.”
