Kennydale Elementary in Renton is one of 75 Washington schools named 2013-2014 Reward Schools by State Superintendent Randy Dorn.
The Reward School designation identifies schools that receive federal Title 1 funds and are meeting benchmarks on standardized test scores or showing significant improvement.
Kennydale received a "high progress" designation, meaning it has performed in the top 10 percent of all Title 1 schools for reading and math for the past three years.
“Kennydale Elementary is a school full of talented, compassionate, committed educators and parents who work diligently to increase academic rigor and engage students in meaningful learning,” Kennydale Principal Bill Tarter said in a statement posted to the Renton School District's Facebook page. “I am so proud to be a part of a learning community that works this hard, cares this much and is able to affect such wonderful results.”
