Hazen’s Brown Scores Seven TDs In Win Over Highline

Coach Oliver surprised at end of game with unofficial school record.

Trey Brown entered last Thursday’s football game with two touchdowns all season; by games' end Brown scored seven times (total 42 points) in Hazen’s 54-35 win over the Highline Pirates at Highline Stadium.

“It was a good game and I myself didn’t have any idea I scored that many.  I feel like the team is finally coming together and playing like we should be,” Brown said in an email to Patch Monday.

“Tray’s seven TDs would be an unofficial school record; can’t think anyone else has done something like that,” said Hazen Head Coach Drew Oliver in an email to Patch Monday.  “I was quite surprised when I heard at the end that Tray actually had 7 scores.”

According to longtime Hazen Football Coach Rick Stubrud, he believes John Lambert scored five touchdowns in the late 80s. But no Highlander has scored more than five until now.

“We seemed to be pretty balanced throughout the game and had three rushers over 100 yards, Tray was the beneficiary of most of the goal line work.  Definitely a nice honor for him and well-deserved accolades for our entire offense that has been clicking much better as of late,” Oliver said.

In addition to the seven touchdowns, Brown rushed for 163 yards on 27 carries. Teammates Cody Taylor rushed for 156 yards on 12 carries and Frankie Johnson rushed for 172 yards on 12 carries.

Jordan Tillman sacked the Highline quarterback 2.5 times for 17 yards loss (.5 times is a dual sack).

Hazen (2-2, 4-2 overall) plays Foster (1-2, 2-4 overall) at Renton stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. The Highlanders will take the next week off and face Renton (2-1, 3-3) at home for the school’s homecoming celebration and conclusion of the regular season.
