H.O.M.E. program open house to be held this Thursday at Spring Glen School

The Renton School District offers an excellent parent-partnership program which provides an alternative to traditional classroom education. All five of my children have participated in this program-- and they all enjoyed it and benefited from their experience. The H.O.M.E. program is having an open house Thursday May 30th from 5:30 - 7:00 P.M. Visitors will be welcome to tour classes and meet the teachers, as well as meet families enrolled in the program. The location is Spring Glen School, 26007 Jones Avenue South, Renton WA, 98055. Questions can be addressed to Ginny Knox or her staff at 425-204-2520. Here is more information about the H.O.M.E program from their website: H.O.M.E. stands for Homeschool Opportunities for Merging Education. The H.O.M.E. Program is just that. We offer resources and support from the Renton School District, and all of our incredible families help support each other with homeschool ideas and information. As an Alternative Learning Experience - Parent Partnership Program, we work with our families to help create a written student learning plan for each child. When we look at these plans, we are amazed at what rich learning experiences each child has. We welcome parents and students who have chosen this as an alternative to the regular school experience. It requires a huge commitment on the part of the parents, as the main teachers. Most of our classes are considered enrichment classes, and are not meant to replace curriculum in core subject areas. Only our core high school courses in Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies, are complete courses, and these classes have a lot of homework which may require parent support."
