Will You Watch the 2013 Presidential Inauguration?

On Monday, President Barack Obama will start his second term of office. Will you be watching?

On Monday, Jan. 21, President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second term as president.

Actually, his official swearing in will take place in private the day before, on Jan. 20, as set out in the Constitution. But since Jan. 20 is a Sunday, the inaugural festivities will be delayed by one day, as is traditional, to Jan. 21.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Pacific time, viewers of the Presidential Inauguration will be treated to all the pomp and circumstance they could want, including a ceremonial swearing in, inaugural address, parade and national anthem sung by Beyonce.

The inauguration will be carried on all major networks.

Obama's first inauguration stirred up a lot of excitement, but that may have ebbed somewhat for his second term. We want to know: Do you plan to watch the inauguration?

The US has the highest corporate tax in the first world. How's all those taxes helping Europe get out of there mess?
Barbara Manley January 21, 2013 at 04:27 PM
Of course! This is not political, but historical, a celebration of democracy, and due respect and appreciation as the leader of our country is sworn into office. Shame on any of you for making it a statement against Obama! (And more shame on those of you who can't recall that Bush was the one who got us into two credit-card funded wars that now have to be paid for!)
Celia Wu January 21, 2013 at 06:05 PM
Absolutely. I am very proud to see Americans come together. No one can take away that President Obama is a transformational figure in American politics. We can all rise above the petty politics and banter of those who seek to block progress in our country.

Edward and Pryia, Please put the Kool Aid down and don't fog the issues and read what I said. He the ONLY President in history who has not passed a budget in his first term. What this means that AS President the "budget that he did present" - as I said. As Edward points out - The process STARTS with the president submitting his budget request to Congress early in the year. After that Congress, who "bottoms up" is designed to reflect the American states and individuals represented votes, REJECTED IT 414-0 (thanks for further making my point - it's not nonsense it's fact!) Even the Democratically controlled Senate saw that. The other facts that you fail to address and recognize is the "16 Trillion in Debt and still climbing?" and "typical Democrat - Tax and Spend (other people's money)" AND the fact that we are living for the first time in history with the highest debt in history and WITHOUT A BUDGET! How do you defend those facts? By the way, I did read your input and thanks for further supporting my point!!

The debt came from the wars we put on our credit cards. Go back in history about 8 years.

I thought it was s very good speech- reported in the New York Times- http://mail.aol.com/37309-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/DisplayMessage.aspx?ws_popup=true

Sorry, I don't believe you read it, or you wouldn't be sticking to your point. Read this excerpt, where it is pointed out that this is pure partisan politics. I realize this doesn't jibe with your point, so you are going to denounce it as lies or spin, but the truth is that little in politics is what it seems, and you clearly don't understand the subtleties. Keep getting your news from Fox -- the world is nice and simple that way. Begin quote from the articile: The same thing happened a year earlier in the Senate. That vote: 97-0 against. Democrats didn’t support the plan because it has been supplanted by another deficit-reduction plan Obama had later outlined. Republican leaders demanded a vote on Obama’s budget to show that Democrats don’t support any detailed budget blueprint, according to The Hill. Such votes are taken "just as a means of embarrassing the president and his party," said Patrick Louis Knudsen, a senior fellow with the conservative Heritage Foundation. "Usually it’s brought up by the opposition party because they generally anticipate that a president’s budget won’t get very much support especially if it has controversial elements to it," he said. Other experts agree. Said Steve Ellis, of Taxpayers for Common Sense: "That was pure political theater and was done to score rhetorical points."

Absolutely, I am watching now! I wonder why you are asking, or why you phrased the question in this manner?
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:25 PM
Absolutely no way!! The fact that idiots in this country have re-elected this buffoon and his moronic vice president into office proves that the intelligence level has dropped dramatically in this sad country. We have a huge amount of unemployed losers and immigrants with their hands out hoping Mr. Stupid will grease them.
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:26 PM
Celia, how are those freebies working out for you?
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:28 PM
David, you can't preach to the stupid. I look out there and I see stupid people, their Democrats, their everywhere, and they don't know their stupid.
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:34 PM
Priya Sinha, A great president??? Seriously? What are you smoking? What has this man done in the past 4 years except SPEND with reckless abandon. Yes, the president has the ability to spend $ and he has spend TRILLIONS in the past 4 years.
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:35 PM
A bucket. A bucket. A bucket. Please bring me a bucket so I can projectile VOMIT into it.
Don January 21, 2013 at 09:39 PM
David, don't quote me but I believe it's been over 2 trillion a year..or more.
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:01 PM
Seriously? After 4 years of doing absolutely nothing but spending trillions of dollars and putting our country into a MUCH worse financial shape? Are you happy just because he is a African American president? I'm guessing you don't care about this country's financial situation as long as you've got a black president in office. Seriously, how has this benefited this country? Facts. Tell me. Educate us on what good he has done to keep us in jobs? What has he don't to bolster the economy? Here's your chance to prove me wrong. Go for it!
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:24 PM
Grace dear, I know Democrats struggle scholastically. The proper spelling is definitely. Just to help, there are public libraries in the area which may assist in your learning process along with built in spell checkers in Microsoft Word. Good luck! :)
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:31 PM
Richard, Stupidity and incompetence are not color blind and our horribly inadequate president has them in abundance.
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:33 PM
Rich, so well said and armed with knowledge and intelligence. So sad our Democratic friends forgot to load up.
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:35 PM
Phyllis! Go back to your knitting! :P
Don January 21, 2013 at 10:38 PM
Priya, you don't what you're talking about. Enough from the peanut gallery.
Roger chambliss January 21, 2013 at 10:57 PM
A disastrous public school system = lack of critical thinking skills = "low information" voters (mostly Democrats who vote their emotions and are easily manipulated) = this country's road to ruin. This President has been a disaster. The media reported a key element in his speech today was calling for national unity...talk about chutzpah !! Obama is by far the most divisive president in recent memory. Celebrating Obama and King (also divisive) on the same day was depressing...until I learned that January 21st is also Squirrel Appreciation Day (honest!!)..Somehow it all fits! Roger PS : I hope Jerry Gropp is a better architect than a student of good government.
Don January 21, 2013 at 11:08 PM
A bucket.
Todd January 21, 2013 at 11:11 PM
Priya and Edward, The wars that he also voted for? BTW, HIS debt has been racked up by THIS President by not having a budget and NOT cutting ACTUAL spending, not just INCREASES in spending - too big of a concept for you two but wanted to include it so that you can also look that FACT up. E. G. He also took 716 BILLION OUT of Medicare to fund for his OBAMA Care for ~ 10% of the US population (31m people out of 300+m people). It's Socialism when he trys to push it on 100% of the US population when 90% of the people are already working for their health care!!
Don January 21, 2013 at 11:19 PM
Jerry, Jean, you guys need to get together and have a great big hug!!
Don January 21, 2013 at 11:23 PM
Barbara, I have to ask. What are you so proud of and what are all those reasons why you say he is one of our best presidents? I am dying to hear your many many reasons why you feel this way. Don't disappoint.
James Banks January 21, 2013 at 11:47 PM
Well, bully for you and your small business, that you have learned how to exploit the labor of others for your own gain just like Mitt. What to you pay your employees? Do you include health care? You say you provide services that we need, but that teachers, road builders and first responders don't??? What planet do you live on? Business owners have mastered the art of selfishness and nearly destroyed our country in 2008. The last thing we should do is put them in control. The only allegiance they have is to profit, so they'll ship jobs overseas and reduce working people into poverty if they can. As a small businessman for decades, I don't think I deserve any special respect, and am proud to be able to pay taxes in this great country. You, on the other hand, are a borderline traitor. We heard all this blather about "job creators" so we gave them huge tax breaks, and they turned out to be "job EXPORTERS". Over 50,000 factories closed in the USA from 2000 to 2008, with millions of jobs sent overseas. Obama is getting no help from greedy Republicans to fix things...hopefully they'll never be in charge again unless they manage to rig elections.
Don January 21, 2013 at 11:51 PM
A little side blurb. Obama has spent 16 million millions. That number is incomprehensible. Spilling it out in millions seems to really describe how horrible this number really is. I feel like the Democrats have their heads in the sand hiding from the fact that our country is all but financially destroyed. All they seem to see is how wonderful it is that we have risen above our past predudices and elected a man of color. How wonderful! Now that we're all touchie feelie about having an African American president when will they come to grips with what he has done and is continuing to do this this country financially. Now picture that same number doubled or larger in 4 years once he has completed his financial destruction of America. He was talking about change, now that is change! Now picture widespread unemployment, millions and millions of people homeless, education at a standstill, a hugely diminished military and our past allies overrun by our enemies, dramatic food shortages, crime out of control and the icing on the cake is we won't have weapons to protect ourselves because Obama made them illegal. But don't believe me. Just wait 4 years.
Edwin January 22, 2013 at 07:55 PM
The inauguration was a waste of money since he was already sworn in Sunday. Why have 2 ceremonies? Obama's speech once again was dividing the Country not uniting. Maybe he should lead by example and WE THE PEOPLE would find common ground. Bush's mistake was not cutting spending to fund the two wars. The average cost of the was around 123 billion per year. Medicare fraud alone wastes 100 Billion. Obama has added 8 trillion in debt and continues to promise status quo. When the Republicans has majorities in both Senate and House with Bush they became partisan cronies who were more interested in being reelected that remain fiscally constrained. The average Medicare patient is contributing 120,000 dollars while consuming 350,000 in benefits. How can President Obama stand there and say things will remain the same? This is a lie and it will not be sustainable. If this were any business or family budget we would already be in Chapter 11

Thank you Edwin....I complete agree.
